Printing Arts utilizes Green Ink
We have become even GREENER with the use of Biolocity, an innovation in environmentally responsible sheetfed ink technology. Biolocity delivers superb lithographic performance, running efficiency, and print quality with extremely low levels of VOCs.
Environmental Benefits of Biolocity:
- Essentially 100% solids formulation with extremely low VOC content (typically 2-3% by EPA Method 24)
- Formulated with 30% or more vegetable oil
- Does not contain any petroleum-derived ink solve
- Product contains a minimum of 55% bio-derived, renewable, and sustainable raw materials

Our Green Initiative
Printing Arts is committed to providing innovative, environmentally friendly green printing solutions.
Our FSC Chain of Custody Certification allows us to support responsible environmental practices by offering marketing materials to our customers that are printed on paper originated from an FSC certified forest. FSC Certified paper has been harvested from forests that meet stringent environmental, social and economic standards.
Becoming an FSC Certified printer is just one of the many steps Printing Arts has taken toward environmentally conscientious printing.
Other green initiatives include:
- 100% of paper waste is recycled
- Container re-usage programs established with chemical suppliers
- Batteries, press plates, skids, light bulbs, plastics and oils are recycled
- Utilization of filtered water to minimize number of changes and flushes required to maintain equipment
- Utilization of tube ink (instead of canned ink) to minimize ink loss from oxidation
- In-house ink lab - mixing inks per job reducing ink waste
- Reduction of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and plant emissions
- All spray powders are corn-based; spray powder filtration systems in use throughout facilities
- Utilization of soy-based inks for all of our process inks
- Significant reduction of paper waste in printing and binding operations through greater efficiency and changes in equipment
- Recycling of wood products, such as pallets and off-cuts
